As we continue to see falling sales of CDs, it is obvious that the distribution channels of music are changing. But there is no doubt that the shocks Digital is the new "standard" for many people to buy their music, either one percent or ninety-nine download an entire album. As I reflect on these changes, I still think the vinyl record, as prehistoric times, as it is, is gaining popularity and new fans and make believers that this is the best audio format that can be heard.

As a lover of vinyl, I'm pretty set in my ways, no one has to convince me to stay musical power and greatness of the disks vinyl. So I was very excited when I had the opportunity to interview a young man who shares the same opinion as me.

I had the great pleasure of talking with a young nineteen-year-old lover of vinyl Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada named Steve Robertson, who was kind enough to share their thoughts and opinions about this age, but valued format. What follows is a brief discussion with Steve as he shared his passion and love for vinyl records.

I asked Steve which led to vinyl, why prefer this audio format?

"Vinyl sounds better, has a unique sound that can not be duplicated. There is a feeling of satisfaction as actually holding a physical commodity. And the cover art, not only the past, but new artists, is another why we prefer vinyl records in any other format. I also have a sense of satisfaction in knowing that when I buy an artist's work on vinyl, I am supporting the musicians who release it simply is not another free download, "explained Steve.

I asked Steve how long he has heard from vinyl and what format they prefer their friends.

"I have been in several years vinyl and vinyl is huge in British Columbia and most my friends prefer it this way. We both like the clear sound and the experience you get when you play a record. And We are interested in DJ-ing, so it fits right in. The year last bought a pair of Stanton turntables that have certainly helped my DJ-ing work and I plan on upgrading very soon to take it to the next level. I love the control I playing the music that people want to hear. The purpose of a DJ is to take two different songs and mix them together in a perfect soft without the public knowing. Taking elements of a record and mix in the other, then you can mix with skill the first song until you just played the new track. It's like creating a new song and new music in a way. You be sure to keep a constant flow, a continuous flow of ups and downs, it's like telling a story, you want to keep people intrigued and interested in music, "said Steve.

"I really believe that vinyl is coming back, it sure is in our area. If my friends and I had to choose, records would be our choice and the best option to listen to our music. But they are harder to acquire, in our local store vinyl is an hour and a half away, so they buy most of our line of vinyl.

I asked Steve about his collection of vinyl records and wanted to know more about his passion for the D J-Ing.

"For the first part of your question, I would say I have over three hundred documents, mostly classic rock like Zeppelin or the heart. But I have about seventy-five records that would fall into the genre of electronic music. That's all I play when I DJ because that's what people want to play to listen. When you're mixing records, the control you have over the sound and how music can manipulate is like playing an instrument. You can mix and make music with effects on your mixer or you can do some hands on scratching and add their own unique sound to the same. As for scratching goes, is a new level of DJ'ing because, so it is creating a sound that has never been heard before, it's almost like the live production "Explained Steve.

It was certainly refreshing to hear Steve talk about his love for vinyl records. His enthusiasm for the format was clearly evident, with special satisfaction for me, a vinyl purist. And both agreed that any musical genre that you enjoy is undoubtedly the best sounds that emanate from a vinyl record. And that's a perspective that will help vinyl survive if not thrive.

I want to personally thank Steve for his cooperation and candor as respect to our discussion about vinyl records. It's nice to hear someone from another generation, not just a passionate music listener, but on the format audio that he chooses to listen to their music.
