Could someone tell me if these eyes would work in my BJD?
I don’t actually have it yet but for my birthday I’m getting a Hujoo bjd from my friend. The doll doesn’t come with eyes but the ones in the picture were 20mm. Do you think that 18mm/22mm eyes would work with it? I’m not really sure which doll it is so I can’t be too specific.
Assuming the BJD has no unusual sculpting inside the head so the eye can set well in the sockets, the answer is most likely on the 22’s and it depends on the 18’s.
The 22’s will most likely fit but the iris may look huge and all eye white may be hidden. On some BJDs this can end up looking sort of insect-like or alien.
The 18’s may leave unsightly gaps around the eye.
But it really depends on the exact eyes you get. Every eye manufacturer has variations in the actual size of the eyes (like not all 22mm’s are the same size) and there are also large variations in how much iris and pupil there is vs white.
One other thing to consider – some eyes have domes on them – a clear dome that raises above the iris. If the 22’s are domed then the larger dome may not fit through the eyehole and cause a bad fit.
Bottom line – you have to try them or find someone else who tried the same brand in the same size and says they worked.
